Banana Strawberry Smoothie

16 Dec

I’ve been in a fruit kick lately, especially in the morning. It’s a refreshing way to start the day. And it’s healthy!

But I’m a person who gets bored wayyyyy too easily. So recently I’ve been making smoothies. This morning I started my day with a glass of banana strawberry smoothie. Strawberry banana smoothies are some of the easiest mixes to make. An easy strawberry banana smoothie recipe usually consists of not more than a few strawberries, one ripe banana and some type of liquid like milk or juice.

Strawberries contain a range of nutrients, such as vitamin C, which is good for the skin. They also contain significant levels of phytonutrients and antioxidants, which fight free radicals. Free radicals are elements that can damage cells, and they are thought to contribute to the formation of many kinds of cancer.

In addition to vitamin C, strawberries also provide an excellent source of vitamin K and manganese, as well as folic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Meanwhile, bananas contain three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet, and also a remedy for many illness. For example, anemia, depression, constipation, morning sickness, and many more. It is also a good help for your PMS. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. So girls, throw away those pills and grab some bananas instead!

Anyway, enough with the jibber jabber, and let’s blend!

Ingredients:

1 banana
6 large strawberries
1/2 cup of milk
1 cup yogurt
1 tbs honey
some ice

Blend the banana and strawberries with the milk until smooth then add the yogurt and blend on low for 30 seconds.

There you have it, a healthy start for your day. Or you can also drink this in the day as your snack, or even as a dessert.

Bon appétit!

I always have berries made into smoothies. I have never mixed banana with that though. I’ll have to try this, looks yummy!

This sounds exactly like what I’ve been having lately, although I usually have it for a snack later in the day. It’s sooo delicious :) Sometimes I even add a small spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder :D

I use a bit of vanilla pudding mix to sweeten my smoothies, and my strawberries are nearly always the frozen organic kind, or I add a bit of crushed ice. I also use almond milk sometimes instead of yogurt. They’re very good, but I usually have them for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up instead of breakfast.
